Vacation Spotlight: Hilton Head Island, SC

I am starting my blogging journey by sharing with you one of my absolute favorite vacation spots. I have been to Hilton Head every year for as long as I can remember. When I was 4 years old my parents bought a timeshare at Marriott’s Grande Ocean on Forest Beach Drive. Since then, the island has come to feel like our second home and we have made countless family memories there over the years. It started as a family vacation the 4 of us (my mom, dad, sister, & I) and now we get to share this special place with our husbands too. My sister even got married on the beach here. As you can probably already tell, HHI holds a very special place in our hearts. The island has a little bit of everything and it is a wonderful summer vacation spot. Keep reading for some of our personal recommendations!

Favorite Spots

The Frosty Frog Cafe-This is usually one of our first stops when we get to the island. Frosty Frog's is known for their daiquiri bar with over 20 flavors to choose from. You can enjoy your daiquiri in the restaurant, or the best part is that they have the option to get gallon jugs to go. Be careful as these drinks pack a punch, especially if you're out in the sun! have sampled almost all of the flavors and my favorite one is still the strawberry shortcake, a mixture of the strawberry daiquiri and white russian. YUM. We’ve never eaten here, but they are famous for their frog legs and pizza.

Coligny Deli & The Ice Cream Cone-We LOVE our ice cream and at the Coligny Ice Cream Cone they have so many flavors to choose from. We also like to make our own sundaes here. This is typically a must stop on our way home from dinner most nights...Vacations are for treating yourself, right!? It's right in Coligny Plaza which has many different restaurant options, shopping, public beach access, and more.

Tikki Hut-This bar is right on the beach and they offer live entertainment. Does it get any better??

Shelter Cove Harbour is right in Palmetto Dunes Resort. We like this spot because of the water front shopping, restaurants, ice cream, and entertainment. In season, there is live entertainment almost every night. One entertainer we continue to see year after year is Shannon Tanner. It has been a family tradition for us since we were young and we always have a good time. He provides family friendly entertainment and really gets the audience involved. Tuesdays are our favorite night to go to a show because there are fireworks directly following his second show.

Harbour Town is a beautiful area within Sea Pines Resort. It is most well known for having the historic lighthouse and yachts I could only dream of owning. My husband's favorite part is Harbour Town Golf Links, where they play the RBC Heritage PGA event. Much like Shelter Cove, this is a popular spot to enjoy a wide variety of different restaurants and boutique shopping. This is a wonderful place to be at sunset.

Dining

As a family we love to get dressed up and go out for dinner, especially on vacation. We have found some spots we really like and we tend to repeat them each trip leaving a night or two open for trying a new place.

SERG Restaurants- This is a group that owns 9 different restaurants on the island. Over the years we have tried and would recommend Giuseppi's, Frankie Bones, Marley's, Wise Guys, and Poseidon!

We normally go to Giuseppi's for lunch numerous times during our week stay. I highly recommend trying one of their weggies, which is essentially a foldover pizza. My personal favorite is the roman weggie.

Frankie Bones Restaurant and Lounge is perfect for a nice dinner out. Some menu highlights include their martinis & cocktails, the lobster mac & cheese, baby back ribs, steak, and crab cakes.

Marley's Island Grill is another restaurant we continue to return to. We really like the crab and artichoke dip appetizer. For dinner we all indulge in a seafood option from mahi mahi tacos, to sea scallops, grilled shrimp, or mesquite grilled salmon.

Wise Guys has a really neat urban-feel and some of their signature entrees include surf & turf, bone-in pork chop, fried seafood trio, shrimp & grits, and many more. They are open for dinner and late night dining.

Poseidon's menu includes Alaskan crab legs, grilled grouper, oysters on the half shell, and New York strip. I am actually recommending this place for the evening entertainment though. Poseidon offers live entertainment with an in house dj and sunset views at the rooftop bar. We went for their costal country night and had a blast trying to learn the line dances, fortunately for us there is no video evidence.

I highly recommend taking a Hilton Head vacation and I'd love to hear about your favorite spots if you've been there!
