Romantic Gateway at Thompson Toronto

In honor of Valentine's Day, I want to share with all of you a throwback of one of our romantic weekend gateways. For our one year anniversary (of dating), Dennis planned all of the details for a long weekend away together. Fun fact: Dennis plans some of the best surprises!

Thompson Toronto

I could tell from the website that the hotel Dennis booked was going to be amazing, but wow! He could not have picked a better place for us to stay. The Thompson Toronto is a luxury hotel with absolutely stunning views of the city skyline. The hotel has all of the needed amenities...and then some. With the restaurants, bars, gym, rooftop lounge, and nightlife you could stay for a long weekend at the Thompson and never have to (or want to) leave!

Thompson Luxury Hotel Room
We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne in our room to celebrate our special weekend!
Thompson Hotel Rooftop Pool
As soon as we dropped our bags in the room (and popped the champagne), we headed right to the pool and rooftop lounge. We could not wait to see this view in person! Let me just tell you, it did not disappoint. We visited in mid-July so the weather was perfect for enjoying the infinity pool.

With the floor-to-ceiling windows in our room, we were able to wake up to an alluring view of downtown. Saturday morning we ordered breakfast from Thompson Diner and enjoyed a delicious meal in our bed. I mean who doesn't love breakfast in bed!? Dennis and I have stayed in some pretty awesome places before, but our King Deluxe at the Thompson Toronto is at the top of our favorites list.
CN Tower
We decided to head out to explore the city that afternoon. The hotel is within walking distance of the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and the waterfront trail. After playing tourists for a couple hours we were ready for a beverage. We stopped at Amsterdam Brewhouse right on the water for appetizers and cocktails.

Thompson Hotel Rooftop Lounge
Sunday morning, we headed up to the rooftop to soak in the view just one more time before checking out.

*We went in the summertime and loved being able to enjoy the pool and outdoor lounge, but I bet it is just as beautiful in the off season. We may have to make a return trip and enjoy a staycation at the hotel.

Thinking about planning a romantic weekend gateway? We recommend checking out the Thompson Toronto, and we bet you won't be disappointed.

Bonus: Stop at Niagara Falls

On our drive up to Toronto, we stopped at Niagara Falls as we crossed the border into Canada. I had never been, so we couldn't pass up the chance to stop! We had a little picnic together on the grass near the falls, took some gorgeous pictures, and stopped in Pop & Lolly's Candy Shop! I can never pass up candy.
